Linux, Workstations, and Ice Cream!
After a few long plane flights, we’re finally back from Ohio LinuxFest 2012! We had fun talking with attendees about Linux, and it was great to be there as LinuxFest celebrated its 10th year.
The show was very well-attended, and Pogo Linux was in good company with fellow hardware vendors like HP and IBM. It’s great to see a show like this grow into such a great event evangelizing open source and Linux (we remember the early days when it was just a wee little lad!)
It’s always good to catch up with old friends — we saw many familiar faces from the Fedora project and the local Linux users groups. We had a lot of good conversations around our new Intel product lines, including our latest Intel Xeon E5 Processor-based servers and workstations. In fact, we even had quite a few discussions about our Open Solaris-based Nexenta Storage offerings (Go Open Storage!)
But let’s talk about the important stuff — the food! hahaha The lunch provided by the show was delicious, and we topped it off with some dessert from Ohio-based Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams (just down the street from the show.) If you get the chance, try Jeni’s ice cream. There was a line out the door day and night – it’s that good!
Last but not least, a big congratulations goes to Ed Liddle, the lucky winner of the Pogo Linux Verona 930 workstation! We shipped the machine off to Ed right away, and he’s got it up and running. His thoughts so far? “It’s a well-built, nice-running machine!” Thanks, Ed!
All in all, a fun, productive, and successful show — thanks again, Ohio LinuxFest. Happy 10th year…and many happy returns!
